Spread the love

In our society, mice have many purposes. Some are kept as pets while others are used for experiments and more. However, one thing that no one wants to see is a little grey streak scurrying across the floor, diving into a whole or crevice as soon as we turn on the lights. It can be an unsettling experience but there are a couple of things you can do to protect yourself and your household.

What Does A Mouse Look Like?

If you already know what a mouse looks like this might seem a bit redundant. But from our experience, sometimes we may think something is one thing but find out it is another
For instance, voles, muskrats and pocket gophers all have similar characteristics as mice.
A mouse can be characterized by its pointy snout, small rounded ears, and a tail as long as its body. It has a very high breeding rate and the most common species of mouse is the house mouse which ironically is also a popular pet.

What Do Mice Eat?

Typically, mice eat grains and fruits of all kinds. Mice are highly adaptable animals so when food is source, they will find and consume whatever they can find. The reason they invade our homes is because food becomes scarce. When this happens, they break into our homes that are full of food whether it comes in whole forms or presents itself as crumbs under the counter.

How Do Mice Enter Your Home?

Usually mice enter your home through a hole. The hole may be already there or they might put one there by cutting it with their super sharp teeth. They might also scurry in behind you or a pet as you enter or exit your home. Some might even help themselves to the doggy or kitty door(s).

How to Get Rid Of Mice

When food becomes abundant, mice will breed like crazy. That is why you need to act right away as soon as you see a mouse scurrying across your floor. The first thing you need to do is find the hole or method the mouse is using to enter your home. Once you find it, destroy it and block its entryway. You can also put out some mice traps to catch mice that may still be in your home. Use bait that mice will enjoy.

If you have cats or dogs, they may also assist you in catching mice in your house. Do not depend on them though as some pets may be very comfortable or too old and have no interest in catching anything. Some may also be as afraid as the mouse as you may be. If the problem persists, you will need professional help. A rodent control services temecula ca pro can assist.

They will also be able to advise you on best practices that you might not find on the internet. Time is of the essence. And when it comes to controlling rodents or any pest in your home don’t wait.
